You should know that this post has been quite a while in the making. Well, actually, it was a couple of hours or so in the actual making and the rest of the time was spent on other things. But the inspiration for this came way back in February 2011. I procrastinated, as I often do, and then time would pass, and then something would happen to make me think of this again, and then I'd procrastinate some more, lather, rinse, repeat. I'd think that it would be good to finish this to coincide with certain events, and then I didn't. Until now.
So, back in Febuary 2011, on my Twitter feed I saw a tweet from Mike Furey, lead singer of what was a duo called Dangerous Muse (the other guy went off to do his own thing; Furey is continuing the group using other musicians as needed). I discovered them through a music video played on one of Logo's music shows a few years ago, and I've been a fan ever since.
It was a fairly simple query.
Now and then, I like to reply to the celebrities I follow, though I think most of them, even if they tweet personally and everything isn't handled by a publicist, probably don't even see my tweets. But sometimes they're kind enough to acknowledge my existence. So, that night, I replied...
A short time later, I found this in my feed:
This intrigued me.
If you read only one blog full of ranting and raving about sports (local and otherwise), movies, TV shows, miscellaneous pop culture, life and other assorted flotsam and jetsam, make it this one!

Historic Philly Graves 'N Stuff
This is another catching-up post. One afternoon in March I went on an unusual tour of parts of historic Philadelphia. It's a newer offering from Grim Philly Twilight Tours -- their tours specialize in mixing the traditional history with more macabre things such as places said to be haunted. This particular tour focused on cemeteries and stories of local serial killers. To be honest I was more interested in the history than the serial killers. I did take pictures, though. (Not all of them are at gravesites.)I'm not even trying to post a slideshow to this blog any more. I'm just assuming it will not work, whether it's due to Google screwing up Blogger or the particular photo storage site's incompetence or my own stupidity. Whatever the reason it still royally pisses me off. So here's the link to all of the pictures.

Maytag Repairman, Meet The Apple Security Guard
On Saturday night I was returning to my hotel room after the Camac St. block party, part of my softball weekend. I was staying at the Sheraton at 17th and Race. Walking along Walnut St. towards 17th, I passed by the Apple store that opened up a few months ago. I couldn't help but notice it was rather bright inside the store. For a moment I thought it was open. Then I saw that it wasn't, obviously, and I noticed the one person who was inside -- the security guard. Playing around with an iPad. Now that's a job for me...if you can guarantee no one would ever try to break in and shoot me in a robbery attempt, that is.It was a pretty fun weekend, although our team lost 4 out of 5 games -- we went 1-2 in the round-robin portion on Saturday, then lost twice more (once Saturday, once Sunday morning).

A few more odd pictures. Well, the first two pictures aren't odd, but the reason I took them is.This is, as you can see, Suburban Station. All SEPTA Regional Rail trains pass through here (the train platforms themselves are actually underground). So you'd think it's quite a busy place.
Busy enough, in fact, that you'd think the doors would be open for anyone trying to catch a train.
You'd be wrong. At least on Sunday.
