My 2012 In Music

Last year at this time I was lamenting the lack of new music (as in, new in 2011 or new to me) added to my iTunes library. I figured that 2012 would be better since I had gone back to work. Since May I've been out of work but at least I got some unemployment out of it. So, indeed, my 2012 acquisitions are up. (A note, which is mainly for my own reference: the figures below include a couple of CDs I got during 2012 but only got around to adding to my iTunes tonight, so I need to remember for next year's wrapup not to include them again.)

I added 567 tracks to my collection by my count (it's a complicated story but I may be off by one or two because of duplicates), compared to 271 last year. Christmas music comprised 26 of those 567 songs. There were a lot of downloads of individual songs, as well as the first song in my next project - converting my vinyl collection to mp3 format. I have maybe a few dozen 45s and many more 12-inch dance remixes, probably in the hundreds. I'm so excited about this.

The Glee Project Jumps The Shark

I don't often jump on here and write about something that just happened, particularly if it's a movie or TV show I finished watching. So you know something amazing happened to be seeing this post so quickly.

I've been watching this show all season and, although there have been some annoyances, I've enjoyed it. But tonight, "The Glee Project" jumped the shark in its very first season finale.

Seeing as how I'm writing this so quickly after it ended on the East Coast, I will give you a fair warning: SPOILER ALERT! Why has it jumped the shark? Read on after the jump to find out.

Flyers: Stanley Cup...Drag Race?

It could happen. Well, maybe (definitely) not, but in my odd little mind I like to imagine that, after the seventh and final game of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series between the Flyers and Sabres went seven overtime periods with neither team able to score, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman decreed that the time had come...for the two teams to lip-sync for their lives before RuPaul!  And then...

"I've made my decision...Philadelphia Flyers...chanté, you stay!"

"Buffalo Sabres...you made a strong run to get into this competition and acquitted yourself well. You may go on to greater things if you believe in yourself and continue to work hard. However, your gas-fracking owner supports evil Republican governors. And that, my dears, is something none of us should abide.

"Now...sashay...away."

An Open Letter To Twitter

Dear Twitter,

Where's this new Twitter everyone's going on about? I still have the old one. Don't you know who I am? I must insist that you provide me with this new Twitter immediately. But only if you've got the bugs worked out of it. I don't want a Twitter that has problems. The current Twitter works reasonably well, when it's not "over capacity." So give me the new Twitter but, to quote the legendary RuPaul, "Don't f--k it up!"

Oh, and one other thing: you want me to follow these people? Oh, hell no!
